People think getting a marriage license is a daunting task. Not anymore. All you need is 15-20 minutes, the filing of an application and, for San Diego County, $50.00. You'll need to show a valid photo ID or passport. The ID must show your full legal name and birth date. Foreign passports must have a valid Visa. You no longer need to take blood tests. The license is good for 90 days.
Couples must appear in person together at one of the following Recorder/County Clerk's offices. There are five locations around the county that process marriage licenses. They are open 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday - Friday. The Kearny Mesa branch is also open Saturdays from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
